      Description

      Dear,

I'm trying to solve a question about the GE Mediator.
      As I can see on:
      http://forge.fi-ware.org/plugins/mediawiki/wiki/fiware/index.php/FIWARE.ArchitectureDescription.Apps.Mediator
It's a generic enabler but only available for FI-PPP partners.

I would like to use this technology (WS2 ESB) within my project and take
part in the FI Accelerate program.

Could you clarify this for me, also maybe the questions why not the most
      recent versions are supported?

      Best regards,

      Yvo Alen

        Dear Yvo,

The main reference for the GEs in FIWARE is the catalogue (http://catalogue.fi-ware.org/enablers), where we concentrate all the information pointers related to each GE. This place also conveys whether a given GE is maintained by FIWARE. FIWARE is a live platform and sometimes discontinues GEs. This is the case of the Mediator, that remains as a legacy GE in the wiki but not on the catalogue.

The contact person is Marco Ughetti(marco.ughetti@telecomitalia.it<marco.ughetti@telecomitalia.it>) if you need support, to ask questions or to negotiate how to use it.

I looked for the old Terms & conditions and they used to read this:
        External availability

The Mediator GE implemented by TI relays on the opensource project WSO2 ESB ( http://wso2.org/project/esb ), provided as OpenSource (Apache 2.0) for entire FI-WARE duration and beyond. However it also relays on the ICT-Service component developed by TI, which is provided as Open and Free Access to PPP partners during the FI-WARE/PPP duration and under a FRAND (Fair, Reasonable And Non-Discriminatory) licensing terms afterwards.
This means that it is accessible by the partners of the FIWARE-PPP Projects, and in particular by the Use Case Projects, as share-ware but it is not available for public distribution. In particular the usage of the Mediator under the following circumstances is defined:
Projects being part of the FI-PPP program can use the Mediator product under the conditions established in the FI-PPP Collaboration Agreement that they should have signed as beneficiaries of the program.

The optional SETHA2 software library for dynamic service mediation is distrubuted under Thales license as a binary only closed source library.

One of the reasons why this Ge is not part of our catalogue any more is because these terms and conditions are against the spirit of FIWARE, see the catalogue and you will find that apart from one GE in Security (that we will replace in the future) all are open source and free to use.

        Best regards,

        Miguel
