      Description

      Hi,

an applicant has sent this question:

*Lume Games is planning a soft launch of the 1st version of Pet Spot in Q1
2016. This is a commercial launch, so enablers needs to be stable and
supported. The enablers we use are Keyrock and Orion. Keyrock has been
stable and moderators (limited amount of people) use it, so it is suitable
      for launch.*

*We have been running into stability issues with Orion. A previous version
worked for a few hours and then started giving out errors until service
restart etc. However, we installed the latest version (0.26.0) and it has
been stable for 5 days now, so it looks promising.*

*Still, considering the previous instability and version number being
"0.26.0" we would like to ask the following questions:*

*i) what is the readiness/maturity level of Orion Context Broker GE for a
commercial launch?ii) what is the support level FIWARE owner can give for
      the Orion Context Broker?*

*Given that we are in CreatiFI OC2 and we need to go to the market and
Orion Context Broker is a core part of our project, if needed, is it
feasible to have a brief Skype call with the FIWARE GE Orion Context Broker
      owner?*

      Thanks!

          Dear Marc,

          With regards to your questions:

          • Regarding maturity/readiness, the Orion Context Broker product meets TLR9 model according to [1]. As an example, Orion is one of the core componentes of the Telefónica's Smart Cities and Smart Industry platforms, which provide commercial services since 2014.
          • Regarding support, basic support is provided through the official FIWARE support channels: StackOverflow (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/tagged/fiware-orion) and Askbot (https://ask.fiware.org/questions/). The following post explain when to use one or another: https://ask.fiware.org/question/39/stackoverflow-or-askfiwareorg. Although our team does our best and use to answer in 1-2 working days, note that there isn't any SLA in place, so support is provided only in best effort mode. Direct contact through skype or other channels is not an official FIWARE support channel (although depending on the complexity of the issue reported at StackOverflow or Askbot sometimes we use email or other means to work in close contact with the reporting user). Other commercial-grade SLAs are feasible under contract with Telefónica or any other company that may provide such support on the product standalone, or integrated as part of a FIWARE-compliant platform, because the software is open source. During 2016, the FIWARE community will provide means for companies to advertise commercial support or consultancy services around FIWARE technologies.

          I hope this information helps.

          Best regards,

          ------
          Fermín
