      Description

      Hello,

I can’t seem to able to connect to an instance of a virtual machine via ssh in the Athens-Neuropublic server. I may be doing something wrong, but by following the instructions provided in the connect to instance tab no connection is established.

I tried to reproduce the error but to no avail. I can create and ssh all images in the node. Plase make sure that you have

        1. Created a key pair and you use it to ssh to the instance.
        2. Assigned net04_ext to your instance so you will have access from the internet.
        3. You have created a security group with open port TCP 22 for ssh connections.

Other than that it could be an issue of Mac OS X which unfortunately I cannot reproduce.

        Just tried it again.

1 Created a keypair and allocated IP to project.
2 Edited default security group to have two rules: 22 22 TCP and 22 22 UDP
3 Launched a small image of Ubuntu Server x64 with the keypair and default security group associated and on the net04 network.
4 Instance is launched successfully and i associate the public IP
5 via terminal I input the following command:
        ssh -i UBNeuro.pem root@185.23.171.35
        and get the following response:
ssh: connect to host 185.23.171.35 port 22: Operation timed out

You need to use net04_ext as your primary eth (eth0?) because that will add the proper gateway.
Please recheck, there is no issue with the node ssh capability.

Doesn't what you are suggesting go against the help documentation and the test procedure? Just asking.

Shouldn't the workflow be creating the instance within an internal network and associating a floating IP to it in order to communicate with the outer world?
For instance the Athens_UPRC server works correctly.

When you right click and instance and select connect to this appears:
You need to associate a Floating IP to this Instance in order to connect via SSH.

Go to Security -> Floatings IPs
If you have not any Floating IP available, allocate a new one to the project.
Associate a Floating IP to this Instance.

Also we were asked to perform these tests:
        Security:Floating IPs

        Allocate IP to Project
Associate IP, check that you can go into the VM using your keypair
        Disassociate IP
        Release floating one IP
Release sevetal floating IPs at the same time.
