      Description

      Dear Madame / Sir,
I am mailing you in order to better understand how can FIWARE be harnessed by Government entities.
We are currently in process of laying ground to effectively develop a Smart City (Island Nation), and in view of this we seek explicit information about the benefits for government to form part of the FIWARE network.
Primarily we seek to create a structure that shall holistically provide for services for tourists as well as local, specifically in improving the holistic experience from country of departure, through the stay and back on arrival at the originating destination.
      Regards,

      Andrew Debattista
      Policy and Initiatives Coordinator

        dear mr. debattista,

deep apologise but our system just wake me up now with this your email.
first of all let me thank you for your interest in fiware which i hope can still be rewamped.

as starting point i'd like to tell you that on last 5th february fiware, and in particular the fiware context broker which is the core of our technologies and approach to build smart solutions, has been endorsed by the european commission as a building block to build european infrastructures (please ref. https://ec.europa.eu/cefdigital/wiki/display/CEFDIGITAL/2018/03/07/Apply+Now%3A+2018+eArchiving+Core+Service+Platform+Call). this implies that fiware context broker can be officially part of any public procurement.

having said that, it really depends the way your administration would like to be involved and if, it would like to drive what fiware is and what fiware shall be. i mean, as already some cities did (https://www.fiware.org/foundation/members/), your administration can become part of the fiware foundation.

other ways are the creation of a local fiware ihub in order to create a local competence centre, we call fiware ihub, where fiware experts can be consulted and met by fiware adopters (i.e. those who want to create solutions based on fiware) and domain stakeholders (i.e. those who would like to have their platforms be fiware-based.

happy on all the above to start a fruitfull conversation with you hoping this is not too late.
