i'm getting the same error, however i was using NGSI proxy URL : https://ngsiproxy.lab.fiware.org inside Operator Settings of NGSI source of Wirecloud.
Instead the test that you have used is http://ngsiproxy.lab.fiware.org that use the port 80.

Then I have used it and now our application is running again.
In the meantime we are invited to IOT Solution World Congress that will be held on Barcelona 25-27 october.

1.will this temporal instance be up and running until the end of October?

It was restored on 17 August and I don't seen any problem either using the http or the https version of the proxy. Are you using a custom instance of WireCloud, aren't you? maybe there is a configuration problem and your python installation is not able to validate the https cert used by https://nsgiproxy.lab.fiware.org

1. Please leave it running until the end of october.
2. I'm not using a custom instance of WireCloud. Our application point to : https://mashup.lab.fiware.org/lprunella/tera-4-incense#view=workspace.
I have checked again the ngsi proxy url https://nsgiproxy.lab.fiware.org with the same error, while with the ngsi proxy url https://mashup.lab.fiware.org:8443 the our application is going well.

I've tested it and seems that the NGSI proxy service is working ok. are you getting the same message "Error connecting with the NGSI Proxy: Connection Error" from the NGSI source operator?

This is what I have used for testing the service:
