      Subject: [Fractals] BeeZon CEP Problem

      Dear coachers

We have the following issue from BeeZon project related with CEP

After the FILAB PiraeusN node technical suggestions ( issue 5003 : Romero Javier assigned to Tali Yatzkar Haham)
we had performance issues (the CEP Authoring Tool is extreme too slow)
we install the CEP application outside the FILAB on our premises.
We get the code from Github and using the docker we build the github docker file.

The AuthoringTool works fine in http://51.254.200.160:8080/AuthoringTool/Main.html

We have no more delays and we can use the GUI to create our filters on CEP.
However the administration part (ProtonOnWeb) does not work.
Exporting a definition of a project to the server is not possible.
No matter how many times it is attempted the number of definitions has as result
      []. meaning null.
      http://51.254.200.160:8080/ProtonOnWebServerAdmin/resources/definitions/
Trying through the REST Administration API and trying to post a definition does not work either unfortunately,as we get server errors.

The same work we made on a FILAB instance with IP 185.23.171.123 ,with docker with the same results.
(The AuthoringTool works however it is again too slow in compare with the CEP on 51.254.200.160
and the ProtonOnWeb application does not work).

In order to overcome this as we are close to delivery we had to restore an old version of CEP in FI Lab (from the image cep-r3.3.3-img),
where the ProtonOnWebServer/Admin part works through the REST Admin API but not the AuthoringTool.
      REST Api: https://forge.fiware.org/plugins/mediawiki/wiki/fiware/index.php/Complex_Event_Processing_Open_RESTful_API_Specification_%28PRELIMINARY%29
      This instance works on http://185.23.171.53:8080/ProtonOnWebServerAdmin/resources/definitions/

So now, we have 2 instances for CEP,one on custom premises to produce the definition, and one on FI Lab where ProtonWebServer works and is used from our application.

We request your help as soon as possible for a working version of CEP where all the modules work as they should on a single instance of CEP and not having to rely on 2 instances where each of them is responsible for a module.
Is it possible to have a problem with ProtonOnWebAdmin or ProtonOnWeb war artifacts?

The email o the BeeZon contact is: zacpapac04@gmail.com and is also in CC

      Thanks for the support

      Best Regards

          Dear all,

Based on the Shani's comment, I'm sending the apache tomcat7 logs files as
we proposed in order to investigate possible memory leak in the window
          version of CEP.
Also, keep us informed regarding the findings of the new work item

          1. Yes send the log to shani@il.ibm.com.
          2. Work on docker image still pending.
Any specific input you have for that is appreciated.
3 I am happy that direct work with Tomcat works. Per resources to be used, that is something you can try and err to fit best your application - meaning complexity of your rules, and events load. The CEP documents have some suggestions, but it clearly is something that cannot be one answer for all.

Hope this helps, more to come.

          Hi all,

To problem in Linux installation and the erroneously docker script remains.

Moreover, we try to deploy the war files into a Apache tomcat 7 in a
windows machine, we configure it properly and the application works as we
          expect.
In windows we haven't faced any problem during the installation. One issue
to this installation is that after some hour the apache tomcat process
terminates with a log reference to memory leaks.

Could you provide us the minimum requirements for a windows installation
          for CEP? (RAM,CPU etc)
It will be easy for you to provide you with the log of Apache Tomcat 7
          server?

          Thanks,

          Dear Javier,and Zahos,

Here is the response from Uri ( the new GE owner):

"Consulting with my peers here (I joined the team recently and still catching up), the reason for the problems may be rooted in the installation process of the docker image. Please see here:
          http://proactive-technology-online.readthedocs.org/en/v4.4.1/Proton-InstallationAndAdminGuide/index.html
While we work on fixing the docker image problem (of which you are some of the early adopters), it seems that your problem has a work around as you have described in your mail. Sorry that the process is not sufficiently automated and inconvenient - something that certainly needs to be fixed.
Another possibility for slow performance would be insufficient compute resources assigned to the image. Can you please share with me the resources allocated to the installed image? RAM, DISK, CPU? Small RAM would be a big problem for Java apps such as Proton causing unbearable delays. Several GBs should be used.
          So, to summarize:
1 - validate your installation procedure with the guide
2 - check again the resources allocated to the image, and report back.
3 - let us review this docker image and revise it through a problem ticket on our system.
I hope that you can still get your work done and meet your deadline inspite of these inconveniences.
          Uri"

Hope this helps with the problem.
