Description
Dear Francisco, Sergio and tech team,
Is it really the case that the FIWARE Lab users can not publish data in the global instance of CKAN in FIWARE Lab? I was a bit taken a back by this sentence in a Stackoverflow posting:
“The Global Instance of CKAN cannot be used by regular users of FIWARE for publishing private data, it is only intended for reading open datasets. If you have an (already created and stored somewhere else) open dataset you can publish it by contacting the instance administrators.“
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/32824925/cygnus-to-ckan-runtime-error
Isn’t CKAN supposed to be an environment for both reading and publishing open data? This is something we always used to tell in FIWARE trainings. Is there a particular limitation on the FIWARE Lab global instance that we should be aware of?
We need to publish some context data for a PoC. Do we need to contact the instance administrators for this? Who would that be?
Thanks very much in advance for clarifying.
Kind regards,
ilknur

Hi Ilknur,
It is possible to publish data in that portal. We simply don’t want to have anyone writing whatever… and to keep it under control.
So, if anyone makes a request, we will create an organization and give proper rights to the user to enable publication of datasets. Just let me know.
Best Regards,
Sergio.

Ilknur,
It’s done here.

I couldn’t find any user for Burak. Every user has to log in at least once in the data portal, before I assign rights.
Best Regards,
Sergio.

Sure, that sounds great! Thank you ☺
And could you kindly grant access to this demos organization for our team? i.e. Myself, Omer, Juan and Burak – their addresses are in this thread.
Kind regards,
ilknur

Hi,
It doesn’t need to be a city, just something that makes sense as aggregator of the content. Demos sounds OK to me, should I proceed?
Best,
Sergio.

Hi Sergio,
What we would like to publish is data like temperature, distance to the top of a small container, location, etc. from a sensor. Initially this sensor will be placed in Madrid, but in theory it could be installed in any other location since it’s a portable sensor. And this data is actually not affiliated with any particular city government. How should we proceed then?
I do not see any organization for Madrid in the list of organizations. Could it be an option to create a new organization named “demo” , “other”, “generic”, “fiware” or something like that, in order to allow datasets that do not belong to a particular local government?
Thanks again for your help,
ilknur

Hi Omer,
So far, organizations are related to cities. I wonder if it would make sense to find a content-related organization name for the datasets you want to publish.
Best Regards,
Sergio.
