Description
Hi,
I'm Alberto, developer at sofasession, currently working into the
integration of kurento into our system. Our accelerator is FI-C3.
We have a technical question regarding our need to expose multimedia
content outside of a webRTC connection. In particular we would like to
stream audio to a http connection, to allow standard HTML5 components to be
consumer clients.
Reading the official documentation and the online community forum, it seems
this functionality was available through HttpEndpoint (and HttpGetEndpoint)
and now has been dropped out.
This thread explains the current status:
https://groups.google.com/forum/#!searchin/kurento/HlsEndpoint/kurento/bZQUKy7zEqs/Me_FqpWCuKAJ
We would like to know what the plans are in this regard. Can we expect HLS
soon? Can otherwise HttpGetEndpoint be somehow activated?
Thanks,
–
Alberto Pierini

HttpEndpoint has been deactivated because there are incompatibilities in the way browsers manage live streams. In order to enable standard streaming protocolos, like: RTMP, HLS, DVR and so on it is recommended to use an external server implementing them. Kurento has been successfully integrated with Wowza Streaming Server, allowing to setup a gateway between WebRTC and old streaming protocols.
