      Description

      Hi,

an applicant has sent us different doubts about POI Data Provider.

"Our scenario would be to bring in additional real-world content to the
game from Points of Interest. The data model seems quite suitable for our
purposes, but the main question would be where to get the data? Do you have
import tools from free-to-use databases or other similar items? Ideal case
for us would be if you provided this as a service and we could just query
the data and not care about the data sources or hosting.

Is there a "interest factor" for PoI - Eiffel Tower would have more of
      these than a dog park."

      Thanks,

      Marc Palau

Was: [Fiware-creatifi-coaching] [CreatiFi Helsinki Hub] General Support #426: POI Data Provider - features

An import tool from OpenStreetMap (http://www.openstreetmap.org) is available at tools/poi_osm_import directory of the distribution, e.g. https://github.com/Chiru/FIWARE-POIDataProvider .

Currently, no plans exist to provide POI GE related service as far as I know.

Interest factor is highly dependent on the intended target group. So, the interest factor is intentionally left out from the initial data model. However, the original idea of the POI data model is to allow POI data to be combined from different POI data providers. So, an organization can set up an own POI data provider to provide the interest factors of POIs for the intended audience, only. The different data components for a POI are identified by the UUID of the POI, and they can reside in unrelated servers. New data components can be introduced by the service provider as needed. - Just add them to the file poi_schema.json.

To facilitate separate storing and management extra information for POIs, e.g. interest factors, a new feature Auxiliary Components DP WEB-896 will be developed. Also the Specialization Guide WEB-443 will help configuring the POI DP for new information.
