      Description

      Hello,

an applicant has asked as a question related to a feature of Orion GE.

      He says this:

"We would greatly benefit from a way to find the item that is nearest to
given coordinates. You can query by items contained in a shape, but I was
unable to find a "nearest to point" query. Is this possible? (There are
some workarounds such as searching by expanding radius, but this would not
      work in sparsely populated areas.)"

If you need more information to resolve that, don't doubt on asking it to
      me.

      Thanks!

          Dear Marc,

This question is a very good candidate to be answerd at SOF, as the answer may benefit to other users.

Could you tell the applicant to post that question through StackOverflow http://stackoverflow.com, please? Teel him/her to use the “fiware-orion” tag (this is important: using this tag in your question is the only way our support staff realizes a new question on Orion has been posted).

Any further interaction will be carried out through answers and comments to the question.

          Thanks!

          Best regards,
          ------

Sure we will do that but I think that given that fact that we have a sort of "contractual" duty with CreatiFI project that assumes that if a ticket is submitted by a CreatiFI applicant it should be answered in a reasonable time, we should also provide an answer here.
Then of course no problem to post the question also on other tools but I think an answer is needed here otherwise we have to change to trouble ticketing management process set up with CreatiFI and asking the applicant to post of SOF.
          Thanks in advance

Posting to SOF doesn't impact in our response time (i.e. as soon as the question will be posted in SOF it would be answered in a matter of business hours). If you want to avoid the step of telling applicant to post himself, I'd suggest you post at SOF in his behalf. Thanks!

Yes I agree we already asked this and probably the CreatiFI support team is going to post it on SOF. But the problem is that Jira is the tool used to track issues (tracking means also having a way for the applicant to "follow" his problem from the origin to the solution). If we close the ticket without an answer but redirecting him to SOF, this tracking is a bit lacking.
Bottom line: we are increasing the difficulties for the applicant and this is what worries me.
Then of course nothing against to post it on SOF.
So I suggest to post here the answer and then post the same answer (or may be a more generic one) on SOF.
