      Description

      Dear Sir/Madam,

As someone with a real interest in learning and technology, you're bound to be concerned about the future and its implications. What does rapid technological change mean for learning and training? How will it affect the workplace and what are the skills that will be needed in the future What are the challenges we face? What are the opportunities? Are we ready to meet them? How can we prepare?

This year's edition of OEB, Europe's leading technology-assisted learning and training event, is going to focus on these issues and we are writing to ask you to join us in Berlin on the 2 - 4 December for what will be a very important and stimulating conference.

Three of the world's leading thinkers on the implications of technology and globalisation will address our opening plenary session and their presentations will set the tone for three days of discussion about the difference technology is making to the worlds of learning, training and work. The keynote speakers in OEB’s plenary opening session, which will chaired by veteran TV presenter Nik Gowing, will be Professor Ian Goldin, the Director of Oxford University’s Martin Centre and a leading authority on globalisation and the impact of technology; Cory Doctorow, blogger, activist and science fiction writer; and David Price, the author of ‘Open: How We’ll Work, Live and Learn in the Future.’

With over 2,300 participants from more than 100 countries, OEB is renowned for both its international scope and its diversity. Our workshops, seminars, debates and sessions make OEB Europe's most valuable networking and knowledge sharing event on digital education and technology-assisted learning.

Already, international institutions and businesses including the World Bank, European Commission, the UN, Bertelsmann, JISC, BP, Daimler AG, Virgin Media, McKinsey, Shell, the BBC and Deutsche Telekom, as well as leading universities, business schools, research institutes, schools and colleges from around the world, have signed up to attend.

They'll be visiting our OEB exhibition too, which features both dozens of established firms in the digital education sector and some innovative start-ups, offering conference participants and visitors the chance to see how new learning and training solutions are being developed and implemented.

Please find the link to the full conference programme here. I hope you will have a look at it and make the decision to join us in Berlin. OEB is always exciting, stimulating and fun. It's also a big opportunity to learn, to exchange information and to make new contacts.

This year is our 21st anniversary and I hope I will have the chance to welcome you to what promises to be a very special event.

      With best wishes.

      Rebecca Stromeyer
