      Description

      Dear all,

we are writing after a first preliminary analysis concerning the possible
integration into our platform of two GEs modules, in particularly we are
talking about the “IaaS Data Center Resource Management GE” and the
      “Monitoring GE”.

First of all we would like to explain briefly what we are doing and
consequently what we are looking for. ClouDesire is a platform to manage a
Cloud Marketplace, is integrated with all the major actual Cloud Providers
through their APIs to ensure a fully automated environment, and covers all
the aspects of the life-cycle of an App bought over and deployed on demand
      by the platform.

For the sake of the GEs integration we are interested in the possible
support for Cloud Providers that will use the “IaaS Data Center Resource
Management GE”, and to evaluate the possibility to adopt the “Monitor GE”
module as a monitor to our platform.

Concerning the “IaaS Data Center Resource Management GE” support, we would
like to have the chance to integrate and test a Cloud Provider based on
this technology. To do so we are asking for the availability of some IaaS
resources with a working API like the FIWARE lab.

Speaking instead of the “Monitor GE”, if we understand correctly, for his
evaluation we have to actively push with our “probes” to the NGSI module
previously configured with the correct “parser”.

First of all we have to install and configure a working installation of all
the Monitor modules, it would be of great help if we can test an already
working setup like the one at FIWARE lab.
At the moment our deploy workflow provides an agent in each of the deployed
VMs that actively pushes system and Application metrics. This agent could
be Zabbix or a proprietary Agent developed by us. We understand that we
have to write a corresponding “parser” to be used by the NGSI adapter and
to configure our “probes” to push the metrics to it.
Is this the right procedure or we miss or misunderstood something?

Thanks in advance for your attention,

        Dear Kenneth,
may you answer for your GE?

After that, can you assign the ticket to Fernando Lopez for the Monitoring GE?

        Thank you.

Ideally, as the leader of Cloud chapter, he may have the capacity of providing a general answer instead of sending the propective user from one GE owner to the other. If he does not have the details of the monitoring GE, he may check with Fernando and provide a consolodated answer.

        My response:
        Paolo:
Hi I am the leader of the Cloud Hosting chapter of FIWARE. I just got back from vacation and noticed your enquiry about “IaaS Data Center Resource Management GE” and the “Monitoring GE” [1] . “IaaS Data Center Resource Management GE” is basicly OpenStack Nova, Glance, Cinder, and Neutron. So once you have created a FIWARE account, you can use the Openstack APIs to interact with these components [2]. Likewise, you can interact with Monitoring GE with its api [3].

I hope this answers your questions.

Of course, we will be happy to provide any further assistance.
