      Description

      Dear Fiware Ops,

I was going through your website. I work for a firm that wants me to
examine fiware beacuse we may want to develop solutions that work with
fiware. As I understand, FiWare Ops is supposed to be a collection of tools
that eases the deployment, setup and operation of FIWARE instances by
Platform Providers. My biggest problem is that after opening the fiware ops
front page, I could not find these tools. I could not find references to
platform providers. I have also tried to open the developers section, but I
could not find concrete API specifications. I have also logged in to fiware
labs, and I have found that:

      • There are no platform providers to choose from
      • No information about how to create my own fiware nodes
      • I'm not authorized to use cloud resources in any project
      • I'm authorized to buy applications, but I'm not interested in that. (I
        want to develop new applications!)

What I really want is to create a "Hello world" example: create a new
server or use an existing one, create a test context provider, a test
context consumer and maybe a test CEP. I could not find step by step
      instructions on this topic.

      Can you please help?

      Thank you,

      Laszlo

        Hi Alfonso,

        Please see below.

No I can't. Here are the issues:

        • Help.lab.fiware.org - on the front page there are videos. Whenever I open
the front page, I'm asked to "accept new policies". No matter how many
times I click on the "I accept" link, it keeps popping up.
        • If I close the dialog (ignore request) then there supposed to be three
different videos: blueprints, instances and object storage. Unfortunately,
it is not possible to select from these, because the buttons on the bottom
of the youtube windows do not work at all. I could only watch the first one
("blueprints") and it seems that it requires permissions for
          cloud.lab.fiware.org
        • It is not possible to create a new virtual machine, because it requires a
blueprint instance. In order to create an instance, I would have to open a
blueprint. But I cannot open blueprints, nor can I open or create projects.
If I go to https://cloud.lab.fiware.org then I get the message: "Currently
you are not authorized to use Cloud resources in any project. If you want
to enjoy Cloud environment you can ask other users to share their projects
with you using the Account Portal." I have no idea what I need to do to get
          authorization.
        • By the way, my login info is not preserved. No matter if I click
"remember me" on the login page, it does NOT remember me.

        Thanks,

        Laszlo

        Dear Laszlo,
thanks for your interest in FIWARE.
I think that the first point to clarify is if you want to build/develop
applications leveraging of FIWARE GEs and FIWARE Lab or if you want to be a
        new FIWARE Provider:
        1) in the first case I encourage you to ask your technical questions
(related to developing applications using FIWARE) to fiware-tech-help
        mailing list (see https://www.fiware.org/contact-us/).
        2) if, on the other side, you plan do become a FIWARE (or Platform)
Provider, the you hit the right mailing list . With FIWARE/Platform
Provider we mean an infrastructure owner (mainly a data centre owner) that
wants to host the FIWARE cloud (FIWARE Lab) on his/her data centre and
offer it to the FIWARE developers (the ones that develop innovative
applications using FIWARE - see point 1) for experimentation.
Cloud you please clarify which is your objective between 1 and 2?
Then if it is 1, I would suggest you to consider to write to
fiware-tech-help or to the more generic fiware-general-help.
If on the opposite your want to provide a data centre for hosting FIWARE, I
am happy to discuss how to proceed with you.
Thanks in advace and best regards,
        silvio
