Description
Hey guys,
I have some urgent questions that I need an answer to today or tomorrow at the latest.
I want to apply to one of the FIWARE accelerators, but I don't know if my product would be compatible with the tech or will make it incredibly hard for commercial success.
I'm basically trying to build an Android app similar in functionality to Vine (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=co.vine.android).
It will have:1) a login through a social network (like Facebook etc) or email.2) in will play gif or videos in a loop3) in will allow users to upvote content
In this case, what is the minimal part of Fiware that we should use in order to be accepted into the accelerator?
Also, a few more specific questions:
a) can we use other API to login( like the Facebook API) instead of Fiware?b) Can we use for example Javascript (using Corvova/PhoneGap) or build the app in Java for Android and Xcode for iOS without any interference from FIREWARE?c) can you put me in contact with someone that has build a similar app already with FIREWARE? Or maybe just someone that has a an app with a Facebook login but is in an Fiware accelerator.
I'm under time pressure so please respond today or tomorrow.
Thank you in advance,Sebastian Maraloiu

Thanks for answering, Miguel. I'll clarify below.
So, in the end I mostly interested in asking 3 technical question :
1) Can I actually build my app easily using Fiware?
I want to build an app that has similar functionalities to Vine( has a social login, ability to upvote content, show movies/gifs).
Until now the whole the processes seem cumbersome and it seems to make it really hard to build a commercial viable app without having add a lot of stuff that the app doesn't actually need.
2) What Fiware APIs can I specically use for such an app?links and how specifically can that tech help would be useful
3) Can I use a social login/API like Facebook while working with Fiware?
4) Can I use Cordova/PhoneGap while using Fiware?Cordova is missing a lot of stuff as it is so not being compatible in any way with Fiware would be a dealbreaker
Don't know if I managed to be clearer this time, but let me know if it's better.
Thanks,Sebastian

This question is not for this list. The team that has the knowledge of the call to reply this sort of questions is in the acceleration support list (http://www.fiware.org/contact-us/). This is not technical knowledge but rather knowledge of the rules of the competition.
Also, a few more specific questions:
a) can we use other API to login( like the Facebook API) instead of Fiware?
Again, this is about competition rules and it should go to the other list.
b) Can we use for example Javascript (using Corvova/PhoneGap) or build the app in Java for Android and Xcode for iOS without any interference from FIREWARE?
I guess that you mean FIWARE. I do not understand what you mean by "without any interference from FIWARE". If you can please clarify.
c) can you put me in contact with someone that has build a similar app already with FIREWARE? Or maybe just someone that has a an app with a Facebook login but is in an Fiware accelerator.
The teams that relate to the accelerators are not on this list. You can reach them as specified onhttp://www.fiware.org/contact-us/

I am awfully sorry but we cannot always guarantee replies within the same date.

Hi,
1) It is up to you to evaluate the complexity of connecting to our GEs. This depends largely on the GE you choose and how you want to use them. This is ultimately talking to them via REST interfaces. We believe it is not so complex but this is always subjective and arguable.
2) It is up to you to choose the GE (by choosing a GE, you choose the APIs). doing so is part of the exercise that we propose in the accelerators. As you know, they are linked from each enabler from http://catalogue.fiware.org/enablers
This one may be of help: http://www.fiware.org/tour-guide/
3) If you mean whether it is technically feasible to authenticate from, for instance, facebook and then use FIWARE enablers, of course we do not see any technical problems. Why should we have them? But I am not aware of FIWARE facilities to do so, you should do this work yourself.
4)I don’t see why you ponder whether FIWARE is compatible with Cordova as it is a Web Framework and there is nothing that prevents you from creating Web front-ends that use FIWARE backend components (Context Broker, IDAS, etc.). The general case is that as long as you can create REST interfaces you can talk to our components.
Regards,
Miguel
