      Description

      To whom it may concern,

I'm taking a look at the presentations that are available at:
https://forge.fi-ware.org/docman/?group_id=7 and I noticed that many of
them are in pptx format, that is not open data...

      Best regards.

      Alberto.

        Dear Alberto,
thank you for your interest on FIWARE and your comment will be taken into
        consideration.

Most (if not all) the presentations can be opened also with
Open/LibreOffice, with minor issues that do not affect the overall message.
If, by chance, you find a presentation that you cannot open, let us know
        which is the file.

        Kind Regards,
        Davide Dalle Carbonare

        Hello,

thanks for the reply. It is true that Open/LibreOffice can open these
documents, however, it is not a matter of "usability" but of image and
"philosofy". If FIWARE promotes the idea of open data, the distribution
of information using proprietary formats seems incongruent.

Nonetheless, I'm fascinated with the project .

        Best regards.

        Alberto.

        Dear Alberto,

Let me clarify that "Open Data" as we use it is a concept that has a different nature. Although the idea is wider (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open_data), a typical scenario and the one we normally focus on is Smart Cities.

Open Data could be a Town Council publishing different statistics (real time data of electricity consumption, demographics, etc.)

        Best regards,

        Miguel
