      Description

      Dear Mr/Mrs,

My name is Felix Larrinaga and I am a lecturer/researcher at Mondragon
University (Spain). I have just registered in Fiware Lab to see which are
the possibilities the platform offers in relation to the projects we are
      involved.
I would like to place a couple of questions:
Is there a possibility to upload and work with your own data? If this is
the case, which formats are accepted? Can data be uploaded in real time or
      with high frequency?
Thank you in advance for your help and attention.
      Kind regards.

        Dear Felix,
FIWARE consists in multiple Generic Enablers, many of them consuming and producing data in different ways. You can deploy your own instance of the Generic Enabler or use the existing global instances of the Generic Enablers (typically for testing). Some of these GEs are able to handle data in real time (discrete data, media streams...).
What kind of data do you want to upload? Which GE do you want to use?
        Best Regards,
        Sergio Garcia.

        Dear Sergio,

I am new to FIWARE and I am just analysing the possibilities the initiative
offers. We are working on a small Smart City project and we need a platform
to upload data and consume it creating our own applications. We could
create a small platform ourselves but at the moment we are evaluating
existent alternatives. Actually one of the tasks in the project is the
evaluation and selection of the different alternatives to accommodate data
(cloud - on premise) and the technologies to store data and interoperate
        with the platform.
We have some metering devices at house level and a district heating system
at building/district level that provide us with data. Data can be uploaded
every few minutes but it is far from considering it Big Data. Is it
possible to accommodate these type of data in FIWARE Labs?
We have also designed the applications we want to develop. We are thinking
on deploying web applications (Responsive web design), web services to
offer blocks of specific data and offer reports for Key Performance
Indicators (KPI). Can we create such solutions within FIWARE?
I log in FIWARE Labs without much idea of what I was doing thinking that I
would manage to understand everything on the go but I believe that I need
to further explore on the possibilities FIWARE offers.
I will do that and if I have an specific need I will contact you again.
Thank you for your quick answer.
        Best regards.

        Dear Felix,
What you are trying to do with metering systems fits well into Orion Context Broker GE (NGSI API). Of course it's about real time / in-time data storage and consumption.
Have a look at it's manual:
        https://forge.fiware.org/plugins/mediawiki/wiki/fiware/index.php/Publish/Subscribe_Broker_-_Orion_Context_Broker_-_User_and_Programmers_Guide
There is a global instance that you could use for testing, but since it's quite easy, you might want to install it in a VM or linux server.

there are other functionalities that you might want to explore: Wirecloud for web applications (there are js libraries to interact with NGSI), an NGSI historic database and api (for dashboards), CEP for analysis of situations, etc.

Please check this tour that could help you to understand the whole picture:
        http://www.fiware.org/tour-guide/

        Best Regards,
        Sergio.

        Dear Sergio

Thank you for your support. Sorry for the late response. It seems we could
deploy our Smart City project in Fiware labs using the utilities you
        mention.

I would like to ask another question related to pricing.

Which is the cost for acquiring an account that provides all the resources
        you mention?

Thank you in advance for all your help and support.

        Dear Felix,
The resources in FIWARE Lab are for free, understanding that:

        • The resources are limited and prioritized for SMEs/startups accelerated by FIWARE programme
        • The resources can only be used for experimentation purposes.

If you are an accelerated SME you can apply for a community account.

        Best Regards

        Sergio
