      Description

      Hi

I'm the founder of 3DPrinteo. We develop a Software-as-a-Service solution
that enables additive manufacturers to automate complex sales processes and
utilise their website as an ordering channel. We are part of the fi-ware
      fabulous accelerator program.

We are very keen to offer a "domain specific enabler" for the category
"manufacturing" (besides also using fi-ware enablers). The domain specific
enabler that we want to offer would connect 3D models (eg.from an e-store,
marketplace etc) with independent 3D printing bureaus ("additive
      manufacturers").

      The benefits are significant:
-3D data stores, marketplaces etc can monetise their data at EU/global
scale (we have manufacturer clients in DE, UK, NL, BG, ZA adding new ones
      every month)
-we provide a true alternative to APIs of shapeways, imaterialise and
      sculpteo
-independent 3D printing bureaus get more orders

We already have clients who want to use this service, including Fi-ware
accelerator startups. I believe offering this to fi-ware as a domain
specific enabler is a huge opportunity.

I can't find out through your website how we can achieve this. Is it
      possible to have a call?

      Best regards
      Keyvan

        Dear Keyvan,

I believe that the message I have to send is easy to deal with by e-mail. It is pretty straightforward, just read on...

We are appreciative that you have approached us with this contribution. In fact, it is something we are seeking and there is a new version of the catalogue (http://catalogue.fiware.org/) that anticipates this: "Domain Specific Enablers", on the right.

We expect that the FIWARE catalogue will become a tool to expand the community of developers and users around FIWARE. Currently, the section on FIWARE Domain Specific Enablers is empty, but we hope it will soon grow with the contribution of Use Case projects and contributions from SMEs/startups under the FIWARE Accelerator programme, as it seem to be your case. Also, I assume that this will be open for other external contributors not necessarily linked to any EC related subsidies.

The mechanisms to drive the FIWARE Open Source Community that will be launched before summer are not yet in place, we have discussions arranged on May and we will publish the rules by then. So stay tuned as this is going to be part of our focus; once we decide how to manage the community we will be more than pleased to consider your SE

        Kind regards,

        Miguel

        Hi Miguel

We are part of the Fabulous program and I contacted you in April in regards
to the possibility of offering a new "domain specific enabler". The answers
to my questions were unknown in April. Has this changed in the meantime?

        Here are my questions again:
1.Do you have guidelines and acceptance criteria for "domain specific
        enablers"?
2.Our domain specific enabler will not be completely open for everyone.
Users will need to be vetted and sign an agreement before using our domain
specific enabler. Will there be a sign up procedure for domain specific
        enablers?
3.How can we make sure that we are part of the first group of domain
        specific enablers?

This new enabler is a game changer and solves one of the biggest problems
in industrial 3D Printing, which is accurate online pricing & ordering. We
have companies that would want to use this enabler immediately including
startups from the Fabulous program. And we have investors (incl. a VC)
backing us on this. I have no doubt that would add significant benefit for
        FIWARE.

        Thanks
        Keyvan

        Dear Keyvan,

I am afraid that from your point of view the situation is unchanged. Internally we have made progress and we intend to give a first take of this in the summer, possibly in July. We expected it earlier but such is life, this is a complex issue.

Of course, we appreciate it and we would love to have contributions in due course !

        regards,

        Miguel
