      Description

      Hi there !

I'm thinking about using Fi-ware technology since I've seen there's
something about SmartTV, but I don't know how to do it, since I've seen
very little examples of real deployments with SmartTV's.

I know how to use Chromecast to connect a mobile or desktop app with TV.
What I want is to put a webpage in the TV and the mobile as a simple remote
      control for that page.

Is there something similar I can do with Fiware ? In a suplementary way ?

Also to play with voice recognition API of SmartTV's as well.

      Any clues to start ?

      Thank you

        Hi,

There is an entire scenario in the FIWARE project FI-Content
(mediafi.org) on the topic of SmartTV that may be of interest to you.
FI-Content is one of the "use-case projects" within the FIWARE landscape
targeting media and content in general. They offer tools to deal with
tablets as second screen and such.

I am not aware of any voice recognition support within FIWARE but there
will be some text2speech support again in FI-Content (may not yet be
visible as the team joined only lately).

For the highly interactive user interface (also with 3D) you might be
interested in the Wirecloud GE and the Web-based enablers from the WebUI
        chapter within FIWARE.

Also the Kurento media streaming tools (e.g. see
        http://catalogue.fiware.org/enablers/stream-oriented-kurento) may be
        very useful in your area.

        Best,

        Philipp

        Thank you Phillip:

I have a bookstore for children. I have my own webpage, ecommerce and a
little API. What I want is to create an app (mobile/tablet) to browse my
contents in the TV, and if you select one, you can read that book on TV.
So mobile is the "remote control" for browsing titles, and "turn" pages.

About the voice recognition is because it would be nice to "turn this on"
with voice also ... I mean speaking to the smartTv, not the mobile. But
this is "second chapter" in the project

What is the best tech map would you recommend me to accomplish this ? I'm a
little lost with so many "enablers" and "stuff", and I don't know how to
        connect them for my purpose.

Thank you very much in advance !

        Hi,

I am not directly involved in the SmartTV scenario. So please contact
the respective people driving this scenario within FI-Content. They are
coming more from the Broadcast industry, though, and might have a
        different angle than you.

In some sense your application could "simply" by an HTML app that works
using the HTML capabilities of the SmartTVs. Using the mobile requires
to identify the SmartTV from the mobile. The FI-Coontent team has done
quite some work in that direction, e.g. using a QR code or a PIN that is
displayed on one device and entered on the other.

Again, this is pretty much what I can help there. Please talk to the
        people involved directly.

        Best,

        Philipp

        Hi,

Again, there is the website mediafi.org and when you look at the
technologies (SEs) provided by the scenario you find the respective
        contact persons.

Specifically of interest could be the HbbTV Application Toolkit and
        maybe the SecondScreen Framework (see
        http://mediafi.org/open-platforms/social-connected-tv/). I just noted
that these two are not Open Source (like all the core FIWARE
components). Do not get me started on why not .

In general a good contact for the SmartTV scenario is Ralf Neudel
        (Institut fuer Rundfunktechnik, Germany, neudel@irt.de).

        Best,

        Philipp
