      Description

      Hi all,
we have just received your email about the shutdown of the FIWARE LaB "Spain2". Honestly, I am really surprised by the news and especially by the few days made available to solve all the problems that this shutdown will generate for those who have used SPAIN2 node as cloud infrastructure for their projects.
We have been using SPAIN2 since 2017 for the Waste4Think project (which will end at the end of FEB 2020) and all our IT services are implemented on FIWARE Lab SPAIN2. How do you plan to minimize the impact on the projects using SPAIN2? Do you guarantee the migration of all cloud resources used in SPAIN2 (VMs, Volumes, IDM users/applications/roles , Security rules, Network settings, IPs private and public, etc...) to another FIWARE node? What is the official procedure for asking FIWARE to migrate our cloud resources to another FIWARE node?
Please let us know as soon possible also considering that we have few days to solve all problems .

      Dario Pellegrino

        Dear Dario,
I copy in my response Fernando and Stefano, maybe they can add something to my reply.
First of all, I'd like to say that I'm really sorry about the problems that Spain2 closure is going to cause you all. We can't do anything to prevent this from happening.
However, the only thing we can do is trying to find out a node willing to provide you the capacity you need to migrate your services. You'll be the responsible ones for backing up your services and eventually migrate them all if another node provides you the resources.

        Hi Josè,
Waste4Think project is using the following FIWARE cloud resources:

        4 Istances
        3 VMs m1.medium (RAM 4GB, 2 VCPU, Disk 40GB)
        1 VM m1.large (RAM 8GB, 4 VCPU, Disk 80GB)

        3 Volumes
        2 Volumes 50GB
        1 Volume 100GB

        2 Floating IPs
        130.206.117.164
        130.206.120.215

        2 security groups
        default
        w4t-security-group

In order to minimise the impact of this unforeseen migration activity, I would like to ask you:

        • Could you create snapshots for each instance and volume used in our project, to use them in another FIWARE node (this activity would greatly simplify the migration)?
        • Could we have the same public IPs (130.206.117.164, 130.206.120.215) in the new node?
        • Is it possible to create a backup/image of the security groups and then import the security group backup in the new node?
        • What's happen with our fiware accounts in the global IDM instance? What happens with our fiware account in the global IDM instance(https://account.lab.fiware.org/)? Are we going to lose them all?

Could we have the same public IPs (130.206.117.164, 130.206.120.215) in the new node? Is it possible to create a backup/image of the security groups and then import the security group backup in the new node? What's happen with our fiware accounts in the global IDM instance? First of all, I'd like to say that I'm really sorry about the problems that Spain2 closure is going to cause you all. We can't do anything to prevent this from happening. However, the only thing we can do is trying to find out a node willing to provide you the capacity you need to migrate your services. You'll be the responsible ones for backing up your services and eventually migrate them all if another node provides you the resources.
