General Support #35: Unable to stream one2one tutorial on Kurento instance
      <http://techsupport.creatifi.eu/issues/35>

      • Author: Jan Moons
      • Status: New
      • Priority: High
      • Assignee: Trento Tech Support (Italy&Belgium)
      • Category: Brussels Hub (Belgium)
      • Support Type: FIWARE Generic Enablers

      Hi,

I launched a Kurento server instance from provided Kurento 5.0.4 image.
I have added a public IP address to it, I can access it through SSH.

      I opened the following ports:

      TCP 3478
      TCP 8888
      TCP 22
      TCP 8080
      TCP 8433
      TCP 49152 - 65535
      TCP 1024 - 49152
      UDP 49152 - 65535
      UDP 3478
      UDP 8080
      UDP 8888
      UDP 8433
      UDP 1 49152

I configured the stunserver in the kurento config file, see attachment.
But I only seem to be able to play the HelloWorld video on Nodejs hosted on
      this Kurento instance.
For the others I get the ICE failed message... .

I definitely want to be able to run the one-2-one demo because I want to
base my prototype on that code.
I have these demos all running on my local machine without any problems
      though... .

Anybody who installed a Kurento server and is able to reach it from behind
      a NAS?

      Jan

STUN candidates are being correctly generated at the media server. I see only three options for the behaviour you are having:

          1. You may be filtering UDP ports. Please, double check that all UDP ports are open
          2. You have a bug in your application. I would need to see your aplication code for figuring out if there may be an issue.
          3. You may need a TURN server. There are some NAT types that cannot be traversed using STUN. For validating this hypothesis you might need to install a TURN server and configure it both at KMS and at client.

          Dear FIWARE coach,
this is the reply of the developer with the info you need (also with
          the attachments).
          Thanks

          1. We need information on how your machine is being deployed. Is it at the
          FIWARE Lab?

          Yes at the Buidapest region
You can find the one2one running at this URL: http://148.6.80.84:8080/

          3. Send me both the node_file.log and the Kurento Media Server log, which
          is located at /var/log/kurento-media-server/media-server.log

See attachments. 2 sessions: 1st one succeeded, second one didn't...

          4. Provide information on the stun server you are configuring. Why did you
chose that specific server? Is it under your control?

See config file, I checked a couple of public ones, also different google
stuns and the all did the same

          Hi,
Thank you for your interest in Kurento.

We were not able to reproduce the problem. We would appreciate to have the following information in order to make a diagnose:

          1. We need information on how your machine is being deployed. Is it at the FIWARE Lab?
          2. We need the media server log. Please, proceed in the following way:
2.1. Stop kurento media server (sudo service kurento-media-server stop)
2.2. Start kurento media server (sudo service kurento-media-server start)
          2.3. Start your node.js application dropping standard output to a file (e.g. node myapp.js > node_file.log)
2.4. Open your application using a WebRTC compatible browser (i.e. Chrome)
          3. Send me both the node_file.log and the Kurento Media Server log, which is located at /var/log/kurento-media-server/media-server.log
          4. Provide information on the stun server you are configuring. Why did you chose that specific server? Is it under your control?

          Thank you in advance.

          Other information from the user.
The user wants to know how it is possible to have:

          • Kurento Media Server, latest version
          • Nodejs installed
          • All Kurento Nodejs tutorials should be working especially one2one tutorial
Can you provide any suggestions on this?

          Moreover he is saying that:
Currently I have a Kurento instance (version 5.1.0) with Nodejs running on the Budapest region with public IP address: 148.6.80.84 (For the one in Gent region I was not able to get a public IP)

          • I created a service for the one2one tutorial which can reached at this url: http://148.6.80.84:8080/
          • You can use SSH and root to access the server on Budapest region to check configuration.
Could you check what is wrong in this installation?
