      Description

      Dear FIWARE Coaching Team,

My name is Sara Madariaga and I work for Encore Lab, one of the FI-C3
      startups.

We are having troubles learning how to use the CEP GE. We managed to install
and run the server where all the examples are, but don’t know how to make
them work. I try to explain myself: We see the definitions and attributes of
events, contexts, producers, consumers, etc. but then we cannot figure out
how to interact with these entities to build an example. Are they linked to
any objects in the real world producing information? If so, how are we
supposed to read that information so events can be identified? After that
we'll need to connect our system producing information to the CEP for
creating and our own events, producers and consumers.

We checked the documentation available online and the webinar
      (https://edu.fiware.org/mod/scorm/view.php?id=207) but couldn’t figure out
      how to make things work…

Any hints on how to proceed? Thanks a lot. Kind regards,

      Sara

        Dear Sara,

FIWARE builds upon the FIWARE NGSI specification which is used to define and consume context information.

This NGSI specification is the one which is to be used to feed your CEP with events information.

Within the FIWARE architecture, the ORION context broker GE is used as a context brokering platform between context information producers and consumers. The CEP then subscribe to ORION events.

You can learn more on ORION context broker here: http://catalogue.fiware.org/enablers/publishsubscribe-context-broker-orion-context-broker

And the connection between the CEP GE and ORION here: http://proactive-technology-online.readthedocs.org/en/latest/ProtonUserGuide_FI_WAREv4_4_1/index.html#appendix

        Does this help ?

        Kind regards
        Franck
