Dear,
I'm a PhD candidate at the University of Twente (UT), computer science,
background in data integration (emphasis in semantic representation). My
research is about how to improve the semantic interoperability of messages
exchanged by early warning systems during the early stages of
mosquito-borne outbreaks (or epidemics), a high-level overview of my PhD
project is described in:
http://scs.ewi.utwente.nl/research/r_services/SDM/
I've been studying FIWARE in the context of IoT integration platform, to
integrate diverse types of data sources, from mosquito acoustic wearable
devices to ECDC indicator-based database (TESSy). I'm investigating some
improvements for the FIWARE platform based on my PhD project proposal, such
as how to support interoperability standards for sensors upstream data (OGC
SWE) and for emergency downstream messages (EDXL), as well as ontologies
for common understanding (on FIWARE data models) and FAIR data principles.
It seems that the use of SWE is already a planned activity for the IoT
broker:

I have collaborations with the main research organizations in
interoperability and formal ontology field, such as OASIS through IES
solutions (responsible by EDXL and working together with HL7), the
Laboratory of Applied Ontology (through Nicola Guarino) and the Dutch
Techcentre for Life Sciences. We're writing a proposal for an IoT/SmartCity
call based on my PhD research (some of my research papers are listed below)
and we are seeking a partnership with FIWARE, specially with an industrial
partner that already has practical experience with FIWARE platform. Can you
help us in this direction? I suggest a Skype call so I can present the idea
to you and we discuss about it, my supervisors will participate.
Thanks in advance.
Best regards,
João Moreira

Thank you for your email, I would like to ask you what kind of proposal are you preparing? Could you please provide more details by email?
We do encourage to use FIWARE in your proposal, there’s no need for an agreement (as far as I know) so you can propose FIWARE as the European IoT platform and use all the public information we have available on our website and channels.
In any case, I include here my colleagues from the FIWARE foundation so they can answer you on this matter. My colleague Stefano De Panfilis (in cc) will be able to answer you in more detail.
Kind regards,
Malena
