      Description

      Hi,

I am using the Filab's object storage GE implementation for my
      fiware/fiadopt funded project (memo24).

I am creating temp URLs to make mp3 files public. According to this
      http://docs.openstack.org/kilo/config-reference/content/object-storage-tempurl.html
      ,
it is possible to use &inline in the request URL to disable the download of
the file, but this does not seem to work.

Is this due to the specific implementation of the GE on filab?

      Thank you,

      Hichem.

        Hi,

I am picking up on an old conversation/ticket.

After the swift upgrade, is Lannion 2 Object Storage now supporting the
        "inline" feature for temp URLs?

I am trying to create a temp URL for the following audio file to play
        inline in the browser:

        http://api2.xifi.imaginlab.fr:8080/v1/AUTH_353d9df6040146d99a9b48077b9ae2d0/memo24/a1882bc2cec7e97be69094178bd90df0.mp3?temp_url_sig=481e085a04c3103019ee885107661de301610397&temp_url_expires=1461605763&inline

But, even though there is "&inline" parameter, the file is still being
downloaded and not played within the browser.

        Thank you,

        Hichem.

        Hi Henar,

The user want to use swift version for kilo as it includes a new option for the generating tempurl, called the "inline" option. This option allows to not download the object with the tempurl.
AFAIK, Spain is at the moment the only node planning the kilo upgrade, so maybe you can give details to the user about when it is planned.

Sorry Hichem I realized I did not clearly answer to your first question in tour previous mail :

No you can’t use the inline parameter within Lannion’s object storage.

        Hi Hichem,

I guess but I can’t confirm as I never used swift release for Kilo.

From what I understand in Kilo documentation, you just have to append the “&inline” parameter to the tempurl query string.

        Best Regards,

        Hi Erwan,

        Thanks for the clarification.

So in short, if I use Lannion's node object storage I will not be able to use the "inline" parameter feature, correct?

If I decide to have/install object storage GE on my own server, will I be able to use/activate the "inline" parameter feature?

        Thanks,

        Hichem.

        Hi,

I don't understand all that conversation, and why Sandor is requiring us to enable the tempurl feature.

The finding is quite simple :
Lannion's node is currently using openstack juno version with suitable swift version. Tempurl feature is already available but the inline option is not available because it is implemented from the openstack/swift kilo version.
Lannion's node upgrade to kilo is not currently planned.

The finding is quite simple : Lannion's node is currently using openstack juno version with suitable swift version. Tempurl feature is already available but the inline option is not available because it is implemented from the openstack/swift kilo version. Lannion's node upgrade to kilo is not currently planned. If you install OpenStack Swift object Storage on your own server, then you can/should install the latest version. Questions and issues that come up should be addressed to the OpenStack community. Other OpenStack components that you install should be also at the same release level.

        Dear Henar,

I am transferring you this ticket, because our user (Hichem Boudali) is using the Object Storage GE on our node. In the actual version, this GE seems to use tempurl with the “inline” feature. This feature is available in Openstack since the Kilo version only and there is no node actually that is running under this version.

Could you help our user or can you transfer this ticket to someone who can?

        Many thanks in advance

        Hi Riwal,

Thank you for your detailed answer. Indeed I will more than happy if you transfer the question to someone who knows more about Object Storage GE.

In fact my problem is simple, I want to use Object Storage GE and make use of tempURL with the "inline" parameter to make some files publicly available. So the question is, will I be able now (or in the future) to use Filab's Object Storage GE or install my own instance of Object Storage GE and get this functionality.

        Thank you,

        Hichem.

Concerning your questions, I am working as a support of the Lannion Node infrastructure and then I am not the best person to talk about GEs, but I will say that not all GEs are dependent of an OpenStack infrastructure, like the Context Broker for instance. The GE you aim to use (Object Storage GE) does need an OpenStack infrastructure as it needs to trigger the object Storage API. So I am agree with you that normally all the GEs that you should find on our node (and that need an OpenStack infrastructure behind) should be Juno compatible or at least you should have a version that it is. Do you need somebody that can answer to this question (I can transfer the ticket to another person that can help you on this)?

Wherever you install your GE (on an instance, on a server of your own), you will always need this OpenStack infrastructure with an object storage, so the problem will be the same.

In the Juno version, swift has the possibility to provide tempurl, but just with not “inline” feature. So you can use tempurl with our object storage.

The fiware project i am on is going to rely on object storage with inline option. But if i install the ge on my own server, do you think i can still activate this feature? Basically i need to provide a public link to some files. Do you know other means to do that apart from temp urls? Thanks, Hichem. Dear Hichem,

Tempurl feature is not activated by our node (Budapest) and this is why inline url option is not available. We will activate it on Monday morning, so after that you will be able to use this option.

If you are using other nodes than Budapest, please also let us know, so that we could inform other node operators to fix this issue.

This seems to be the same as https://jira.fiware.org/browse/HELP-4366.
As it states at the bottom of the referenced page, the Object Storage needs to be configured properly in order to enable the tempurl feature.
This request should be forwarded to the maintainer of the Object Store instance that is being used, so that he can check whether the tempurl feature is enabled, and to respond to the user.
