FIWARE.Request.Collabora.What part of FIWARE could I use?

    Details

      Description

      To whom it may concern,

I'm trying to figure out what is FIWARE exactly but I just get a set
of documents with abstract and general concepts, nothing related about
      concrete things.

I'm a professor at the University of Granada and I also collaborate in
a social network project that is very promising. How and what "part" of
      FIWARE could I use?

      Thank you.

      Alberto.

        Dear Alberto,

Thanks a lot for your interest in FIWARE. At a glance, FIWARE is a set of middleware components, what we call Generic Enablers, which expect to provide innovative technologies integrated in a common platform and which will ease the creation of new services.

These technologies are grouped in technical domains like Cloud, Internet of Things, Data, Security, Advanced Web-based User interfaces... And each domain provide a full description of Specifications, APIs and architecture and functionalities per Generic Enabler. The best entry point to discover these facilities si our catalogue: http://catalogue.fi-ware.org

You can use the most relevant of them for your purpose (creation of a service, evaluation of the technology, create your own platform) because almost everything is in Open Source.

In addition, you can follow FIWARE Accelerator programme which wants to involve SMEs, Startups and webentrepreneurs to integrate and use these technologies in new services with clear business objectives. You can retrieve all information in our website: www.fi-ware.org .

Feel free to contact us after a first tour through the catalogue.

        Best regards,

        Thierry Nagellen - ORANGE

        Hi,

        thanks for the quick reply.

I'm interested in taking a look at SoPeCo, Trace Analyzer, UFT, PROSA
and, specially the Big Data and Hosting services.

        How can I apply?

        Thank you.

        Alberto.

        Dear Alberto,

The pointers to all the available information are shown in the various
tabs/sections of each catalogue entry in the catalogue.

The wiki keeps historical info of GEs that were discontinued in the
past. Please refer to the GEs that are explicitly published on the
catalogue (http://catalogue.fi-ware.org/enablers) not the wiki, others
are deprecated and no longer available in FIWARE. May I advise that
there are some on your list that are no longer in our roadmap and will
not be evolved in the future (those out of the catalogue).

You have a contact person or email address for each GE if you need to
contact a given GE owner. Also, you may want to try our free
experimentation environment, FIWARE Lab: http://lab.fi-ware.org/. We
are progressively populating the self deployment facilities with more
        and more GEs.

        Best regards,

        Miguel

        Hi,

Also note that one of the other projects of the FI program offers a
Social Network enabler to quickly set up a social network around a
special events or special group without going through Facebook or such.

Please see http://mediafi.org for that technology.

        Best,

        Philipp Slusallek

Thank you for the fast reply.

We already have the social network but we are very interested in the
geolocation (like smart cities). Furthermore, the augmented reality
        would be very interesting.

Is there a "formal" way to start using this technology or I just have to
download the code and that's it?

        Hi,

Both are supported by SEs in FI-Content. Please have alook at the Web
        site I indicated.

Since it is Open Source you can just start right away. Limited support
is given through the bug tracker and mailing lists for each of the
technologies (not yet available for FI-Content but coming shortly).

There is funding provided by the so-called "Accelerator Projects" for
which you find information at fi-ware.org. There you have to apply.

        Best,

        Philipp
