Yes, you were right. It was waiting on grub loader for a key. Maybe, you could try to reconfigure Grub in order to set a timeout. Please, consider taking a look at the instructions given (for example) here: http://askubuntu.com/questions/148095/how-do-i-set-the-grub-timeout-and-the-grub-default-boot-entry
