      Description

      Dear Luca,

Apologies for the late reply, our office was closed due to bank holidays. Are you still interested in moving to the Spanish node? I see a new community account request in our ticketing system , but this request has Lannion as the preferred node. Lannion node will be undergoing some maintenance in the next few days, so I would humbly suggest proceeding with the Spain node as you originally intended, or Budapest2 as Theo has suggested.

One thing to keep in mind though, the node teams would only migrate your account and quota to the new node, but you would be responsible for moving your VMs, data, etc.

If you could confirm that is still ok with you, I can facilitate the migration request to Spanish node with the node teams. Please let me know.

      Kind regards,

      ilknur

      Dear Luca,
I am very sorry for all these issues.
Yet, the GEs that you present here are among the most mature. Many projects are actively
using them. Moreover, the supervisors are assigned so that they may support the projects and
(as unfortunately, we also can't solve the problems) in most cases escalate the problems or
bring you in contact with the FI-Core/Fi-Lab team.
This is why also technical training and F2F meetings have been organized.

With respect to the FI_LAB, from what I know you have to register using the following link: https://account.lab.fiware.org/sign_up/.
After registration, using the same link you ask to become community member via the "Request Community Account upgrade button".
Via this procedure you also request the node, the CPUS cores, RAM, ..., the object storage capacity etc.
For example, I think that Budapest2 node is also quite stable.
Details are available at the following link http://forge.fiware.org/plugins/mediawiki/wiki/fiware/index.php/FIWARE_Lab:_Upgrade_to_Community_Account

If you can't move from Trento node maybe a simpler solution could be to open a new account?
I am copying Ilknur and David so they may help further.
      Best regards,
      Theodore

      Dear Theodore,
thank you very much for your email and for detailed program.

I take the opportunity to make you aware of the conversation I had with Kate (as he suggested) this morning about some technical difficulties we're having with the FI-Lab and the GEs.

We've have spent much more time than planned for the evaluation phase of the GE's. This was mainly due to:
      · the low maturity of many GE's
      · lack of documentation / accuracy
      · availability of those GE in the FI-WARE Lab (especially in the node we've been assigned to - Trento)
Since this has become a critical aspect for the successful implementation of the project, we had to shrink down the number of GE's we plan to use to the core ones only, subsequently we'll have to implement the other features by our own.
Please also consider that we had an early warning by the technical tutor during a one-to-one coaching session around May: they strongly suggested to shrink down the number of GEs (they said not more than two) because "it won't be easy to learn ad integrate them" they said.

Here is the list of the GE we decided to keep as the core ones, although some of them are still in a critical status (green = ok; red = critical):
      · Authentication (Identity Manager + Authentication PDP + PEP Proxy): this is working fine and currently integrated in our App
      · Object Storage: this is the most critical one as it will be used to store all contents users will produce with our app. Currently the GE is not available at the FI-Lab node we've been assigned (Trento). We've exchanged several emails with them and in the end they informed that it might became available by the end of October (not officially stated). This is definitely too late for a successful completion of the project. Also it will not allow us to show something significant during the upcoming review by FI-ADOPT planned in October (as defined by the contract)
      · WStore: We were unable to test is out until yesterday as the API documentation lacks of some important information needed for a successful integration within our APP. Fortunately we've been supported by the GE maintainer -Francisco de la Vega (fdelavega@fi.upm.es<fdelavega@fi.upm.es>) - who has been very helpful and put as in the position to at least start "playing" with the GE API
      · App Generator: as far as we could see so far, a trial version of this Enabler is available only for those project assigned to the Spanish node of the FI-Labs, thus not to us. We need to try this Enabler out in order to check whether we can actually use it or find another way to implement a very important feature for our app: export lessons as stand-alone iOS or Android Apps.
Our concerns at the moment are about the actual implementation of the App within the end of the project but also (more urgent) to be in a position to show some progress during the upcoming review.

On the deliverable side (documentation) we're at a good point and we'll be definitely post it on the eai360 platform by the requested date.
On the product side, I don't feel we'll be able to show something really functioning by October due to the situation described above, other than some mock-ups.

In any case, we would like to ask if it possible to move our accounts to the Spanish node of the FI-Lab platform so that we'll be able to start using the two critical GEs ASAP. By some emails we exchanged with the Trento node (they are in Italian sorry), we got the feeling that not all nodes are at the same level / maturity. Also, we tried using some pre-built server images to overcome the issue with those GE and we discovered that one of them is password protected (Trento was not even aware of that, nor they know the password) and in some other cases they are buggy or not up-to-date. You can also imagine that this was a very time consuming and, in some cases, worthless activity.
Moving to the Spanish node would help us booting the development phase and try to recover the delay.

Thanks in advance for your support,
      Kind regards,
